What is the diffrence between a standard catalitic convertor and one with uprated metal monolith?

There are 2 types, with standard monolith or Uprated Monolith. the uprated one is about 90 pounds more. Id like to know what the benefits are. thank you in advance.

Update:

yes I mean 90 GBP thankyou for your answer. I was also thinking about looking for a stainless steel catalitic convertor there are a few places near by that make custom exhaust systems.

You mean 90 pounds as in the English measure for money as opposes to the American measure for weight, right? The difference is standard only removes certain carbons and the other removes other harmful gases. If you live in CA, you may want the uprated so as to avoid complications with smogging your vehicle. If not, get the standard, it's cheaper and less restrictive and you'll lose less HP from it.

Source(s): Sorry, I don't know the specific gasses that it removes but one removes 2 elements and one removes 3 elements from your exhaust
