Yeah it's the New Israeli Shekel, you can order it in from most places in the Uk minimum notes are 20. But as it is there local currency it would be best to use these Shekel's as all local traders deal in these. Have fun x

The currency of Israel is the New Israeli Shekel.
Like with any other place that you can travel to, there are places near where tourists go where you can exchange any currency with the local one.
Many vendors and small businesses accept US $ as is and will give you their own "interpretation" of the exchange rate.
There are also many black market money changers there which I preferred when I was there simply because they had better hours and locations than the bank.

Most of the world's currencies are recognized as legal tender in Israel and are freely exchanged at banks or may be used in making purchases.
Israel has a sophisticated banking system. Most of the world's currencies are recognized as legal tender in Israel and are freely exchanged at banks or may be used in making purchases. Israel's currency is the SHEKEL . Tourist services are quoted and guaranteed in U.S. dollars and major credit cards (American Express, Diners Club, Visa and Master Card/Access/Eurocard) are widely accepted throughout Israel. Each bank has different hours of operation. However, all banks are open Sunday - Friday 8:30 AM- 12:30 PM. Bring your passport and a book to read. Many banks have separate lines for foreign currency exchange - don't be shy to ask where to go.

The Israeli currency is the Shekel Hadash. Many businesses in Israel also accept U.S. currency, British currency and Canadian currency. Some also will accept Australian currency.

Only the shekel will be accepted as means of payment in Israel, very few places (smaller shops) will accept the US $, but that's about it.There are many money changers in most major streets and mall, so its not a problem to convert the foreign currency into shekels.Plus another option for you is to pay with your foreign credit card.

Only New Israel Shekel. Forget the stories you may have heard that you can pay with dollars in Israel; it was long ago.
