right! bear with me il try and remeber the basics!:
get a pen and paper, write down your desired budget (may change)
write this list:
venue for reception
church
wedding cars
wedding dress
suits
bridesmaids dresses
photogropher
food
cake
drinks
wedding night hotel
honeymoon
flowers (bouquets and table decs)
rings
invitations
they are the basics, then add any extras you'd like like favours, etc etc. the next step is to work through and find desired suppliers of all those things, once they are done, book and secure with deposits, then youre pretty much set, you have to work thru and make sure everything is paid for, remembered and checked! if you type in 'wedding plan' into google you will find plenty of wedding websites offering comprehensive lists of what to do and when, hope this helps you and good luck with your wedding planning, it is very stressful at times but well worth it in the end!
heres a link to a list for you :)

Gotta have a date, the time of day, and where the ceremony is going to be. Those are first.
Second is the reception venue, and book it as soon as you decide, the nicer they are, or the cheaper they are, the faster they go.
After that, get a notebook, loose leaf so you can add and subtract things. List everything that you need and want for the wedding. Everything from bridesmaid's bouquets to toasting glasses to Grandpa Larry is allergic to nuts so tell the caterer no nuts in the food.
The wedding websites can help, check there, then try the bookstore, they have books and kits galore.

Make a list. Make it very thorough, covering every aspect of the wedding. Then go through the list and prioritize. You need to book the date first. Then the place for the wedding and reception.
You could hire a planner and some churches have planners (cheaper)
Good luck, don't stress, enjoy your wedding. In fact put that on the top of your list.

choose the date then venue for wedding and reception cause those have to be booked! then start with color schemes and dresses after that I always work on type of flowers and cake then on to the decorations depending on what you want this can be a headache btw. Then you are down to the small stuff that your family and friends can help you with.

If you care about the date, start with that and check venue and registrar availability for that date.
If you don't care about the date, pick a venue and see what dates they have and then coordinate them with a date the registrar is free.
Once you have the date, venue and registrar - you have a wedding and everything else are just extras.

yep!! start by choosing your venue... then go from there... take lots of pictures of the venue and start daydreaming of what you want it to look like the day of your wedding and head out to the local craft stores and hardware stores to start putting your ideas together... once you have a pretty good idea of what it should look like... go buy your dress!!! that is the first thing i did actually... my original venue fell through, but it was for the best....
