What is the meaning behind The Presence of the Lord?
Does anyone know why Eric Clapton wrote this song and the meaning behind it? I have seen some comments online that he wrote it about his house.

I always thought it was a testimony of faith, but according to this, in Clapton's 2007 autobiogprahy, the lyrics are actually about the comfortable confines of Clapton's new home that he had purchased at the time, not necessarily about God. "I have finally found a place to live, like I never could before. And I know that I don't have much to give, but I can open any door.
