What is your favourite quote from the bible?

From the parable of the Great Banquet (Lk 14.16-24) "Go out into the highways and the hedges and compel them to come in, that my house may be filled." (v24)

It refers to the irresistible force of God that all people are to be drawn into his love, whether we want it or not. It means that no one is able to resist God and his love and that all will be drawn to him, either in this world or in the next.

C.S. Lewis used this verse (using the Latin compelle intrare) to great effect in his autobiography "Surprised by Joy" to describe his own reluctant conversion - he didn't want to believe in God, but was forced to, against his will, by the evidence he found in literature.

If genuine it belongs at the beginning of the Bible and is believed to read "To my darling Candy. All characters portrayed within this book are fictitous and any resemblance to persons living or dead is purely coincidental."
