Taking the bus is not that difficult and the Ekamai bus station is right off the Skytrain stop. Bus ride is around 2 hours. (On all bus rides, train rides, plane rides and taxi rides keep your passport, money, jewelry on your person or within sight to prevent any losses. Same for your country too!)

Bell Travel will pick you up and bring you to Pattaya for 400 baht. You can set up the appointment by telephone or your hotel can help you. (Shared van part way and then switch to bus. In Pattaya they bring you to your hotel by van.)

Different shared van ride booked through local Bangkok travel agencies is around 400-500 baht. Van picks you up and brings you to Pattaya. Around 8 or 9 other pax in van with you. See travel agency or even some hotels will book this for you.

If you think1300 baht is a fair price than go for that taxi. If I were a woman I would rather be on a public bus or with several other like tourists in a van than all alone with some random, unknown taxi guy, especially late at night!

    Good luck.

1300 sounds ok, if that the price for 2 and not the price for one. Many tourist don't know how to catch the bus and are the mercy of unscrupulous taxi drivers. If you want to save 1000 baht try taking the bus, they charge about 120 baht per person to go from Bangkok to Pattaya. There are 2 bus stations in Bangkok that make hourly runs to Pattaya; Mochit & Ekami. http://wikitravel.org/en/Bangkok Then when you arrive in Pattaya you can catch a local taxi for 100 baht or so. Good luck.

For a taxi that's a little high but in the ball park.

You can take the BTS to Ekamai E7 to the bus station (Sukhumvit Soi 63 exit 2 to the bus)

Eastern Bus Terminal (Ekamai) to Pattaya Bus Terminal

Bus Route: Ekamai -- Bangna-Trad Rd. (Toll way) –Pattaya

Departure Times: - Buses leave every 30 to 40 minutes from Ekamai

    - The first bus leaves at 05:00

    - The last bus leaves at 23:00

    Bus Fare: 113 Thai Baht

    Contact Number: 02-712-3928

Make sure you get a first class bus or you'll enjoy the scenic view of every town in between Bangkok and Pattaya. If the bus has an orange stripe that is second class

i'd advise you think of approximately hiring a 10 passenger van right here. 2 taxis for the size of western human beings would be perplexing to slot 3 or 4 those with luggage. those 10 passenger autos would desire to attend to all of you for not extra then 2,500 to 3,000 baht. A taxi will run you some million,200 to a million,500 baht. keep in mind those autos run on NGV gas and it fee them much less then 3 hundred baht to return and forth to Pattaya.

British woman raped by taxi driver in coconut plantation -Thailand

A 28-year British woman, who hired a taxi driver to take her back to her room on the Thai holiday island of Koh Samui, was instead taken to a coconut plantation, dragged screaming from the car, beaten and then raped.

After the attack the woman was then robbed of her cash and dumped by the road to walk home

Too much to pay dont you think?

Be careful in the land of rapists and cover ups

    Correct.

I always take a taxi when I travel to Pattaya (always two of us me and my partner and same amount of luggage).

From Bangkok usually 1300-1600 depending on how well you bargain.

From Pattaya can be slighly cheaper, last month we got away with paying 1100 agreed but the driver was very good and somehow the ride was very swift, so we tip him atop with 200 extra.

You can get cheap air con mini buses, that should work out cheaper than a taxi. Go to Koh San Road in Bangkok and ask at one of the travel offices.

I suggest you pay in US dollars after the day rate of exchange is known. You will get a discount.
