The Chinese actually don't eat much fish. They're more partial to poultry of all sorts. Maybe you're thinking of Japanese food. The Japanese do eat more seafood.

But anyway, it's just an Americanized version of more traditional Chinese food, just like Taco Bell or similar chains are Americanized Mexican food. There's a hell of a lot more variety in traditional Mexican food...it's not all tacos & burritos & such. :)

it was invented by chinese americans. chinese people living in america. they want to make a living, so they start a small takeaway restaurant. they want their business to make money, so they make foods that people would buy. they take what they know and make it sweeter. they found that fried foods sell well. this takeaway was very successful, so others did the same. americans became familiar with these foods and know dishes by name, so others opened more takeaways with the same dishes with the same name.

Cos it tastes so daamn good. When I come out of a pub or club stumbling and get a take away I'm not really looking for something with fresh fruit and salad... Maybe salad on the side.

Because it's preferable to an Irish bring it back. Most Chinese food should be blitzed quickly in very hot oil. It is sealed and cooked, but not greasy.

because the inventor of the Chinese takeaway, Sir John Chinese-Takeaway, thought that healthy food wouldnt be popular in his various food outlets.
