Is it possible for a radiator to make a room humid?
We have a forced hot water system. I noticed my bedroom feels humid this winter. Is it possible for the radiator to make a room humid? I realize the pressure valve must release some steam. Can the amount of moisture released be adjusted safely? We recently got a new furnance. The room feels warmer than it did w/ the old one.

If you have a "hot water" system it does not use steam but hot water only and there will be no steam. If you have a steam system there should not be any leaking steam either. It's most likely just a normal feeling of extra & much better warmth from using hot water/steam heat. Hot water or steam heat makes it feel much warmer and more comfortable than any other heating source I know of & I've used them all. Since you installed a new furnace it's most likely working much better than the old one too. Enjoy the new extra warmth and cut back the thermostat setting if you want. There will not be any extra humidity from the radiators, if there is more humidity in the air now it's most likely from a different source. if you do find a higher humidity level and want to eliminate it you'll need a dehumidifier, you can find one of many different models at your local Lowe's, Home Depot, or other home improvement store.
I live in a house now with electric heat & have it set at 72-74 to feel comfortable. I also have a old home I recently bought that has hot water heat and I'm very comfortable in there at 65 degrees. there is one drawback though, I read that using hot water or steam heat may cost you up to 10% more per month to heat with (manufactures website info). But some people are switching over for the added warmth & comfort.
One more tip, if the bedroom feels warmer than any other room in the house you will want to bleed any air from all the radiators that may be in there (hot water heat only, I'm not sure about the steam heat, & just the radiators only). You may be getting more heat to that bedroom and less heat to other room(s) because of some air in the radiators. If you're not sure how to bleed the air check your owners manual for the new furnace, it will probably explain how to do it. If not just come back here and ask how, there are a few people here that know for sure. Or you can email me from my home page & I'll reply as soon as I can but it may be a few hours or more before I can today.
