Can you play call of duty 4 on mac online against people you don't know?

I've got COD 4 on mac and I want to know how you play against random people online who you don't know their name for. PLEASE shed some light on this if you know anything

    Yep, you wanna press multiplayer from the main menu, then find game, then pick your game type (team deathmatch best for beginners)and then wait and it should connect you to a game!

    i trust you already have a wifi connection ;)
