It could be that it's just dirty, That's why the fan runs all the time.

    You could try this.

Find the coolong vents on the side of your laptop and suck it out with a vacum cleaner.

The motherboard has got a thermostat to work out the tempurature/heat being output by the CPU.

When the CPU is working very hard, your doing some intensive tasks on your computer then the CPU works harder and it outputs waste energy as heat.

The cooling fan is supposed to come on when your computer gets hot so as to cool it down. It should then go back off again when the temperature falls below a certain threshold.

There are a few reasons why your fan would be on constantly:

    * Your CPU is using a lot of processor for some unknown reason.

You can check this by going to your Task Manager. Press CTRL+ALT+DEL and select Task Manager. Click on the Process tab and order the processes in order of CPU by clicking on the CPU column header. Click on the Performance tab to see what CPU usage is being used. If it's constantly above 75% or something like that you'll need to identify which process is causing it and take necessary action.

    * Your fan is not very efficient / dirty or faulty.

You can clean out the fan with a can of compressed air. Don't blow the air directly into the fan vent, blow it across the top in short sharp bursts to blow out any dust. Blowing in will just blow it deeper into the laptop.

Lastly you can download a free utility called SpeedFan which will tell you what speed and temperature your fan is running at.

If your computer is shutting down by itself, it could be a sign that it is overheating - if that is the case, seek immediate technical assistance as your CPU could be damaged by overheating. Don't worry too much if your computer is not shutting itself down. Self-shutting down is a protection mechanism designed to protect the CPU and other hardware.
