In some countries it is perfectly legal to marry your first cousin. However problems can arise when this has happened for a few generations. Babies can be born with birth defects. If the family is known to carry a genetic disorder it would be advisable not to have children.

you can get a genetic testing done to determine risks. Check in one of the big hospitals. It is not necessary that if two cousins marry, child will have genetic issue. It only increases the probability by a very small percentage. Often issues happen due to repeated cousin marriage through generations. If both of you have good genes, your child will be healthy. are you sure about the 1000s of children thing ? I thought namboothiris dont marry first cousins that often. There could be other factors like their highly limited gene pool . After all , all of them came from 32 families. There is no law against cousin marriage. FYI. Einstein married his first cousin. Queen Elizabeth married her second cousin.

It is not illegal for first cousins to marry in most states, and there are genetic tests you can have done to determine the risk of birth defects, in which case you can adopt.

That being said, it's a big, wide world out there, you couldn't find anyone to date and fall in love with that wasn't such a close relation? I imagine it would cause quite a ripple within your family.

Since blood type is passed down from the father and there are different fathers from you and her I do believe its legal. There are some states that may disagree with me though or view it different since there is a family line in there. Though I'm sure you will get the standard "that's disgusting " from some people since every ones views differ.

And as for the birth defects bit, well there is always the possibility but as far as first cousins that are not direct blood matching then no. It takes a long time for genetic material to start giving the "mutant flaws" everyone associates with incest like stuff. (example is photo copy some thing. take that copy and copy it again, then 1 more time. can you spot any difference from # 2, 3 or 4. no it would take 100's to show flaws) Being that genetics are more complex than copied paper that number is lower for possible side effects but its still around 15 where problems can arise.

It is not exactly related with your father and her father's blood. It is related to genes(your mother and his brother come from the same father) that goes for cross over and the chance are very high that it results in birth defects in children.

    Yes you can marry.

and for birth defect first get expert advice from doctors.

I have also seen many such cases and they are living happily.

But you should consult expert first.

    Yes, you can.

    It is allowed in Islam.

Do you know, Hindus in Tamil Nadu are marring own sister's daughter. This is prohibited in Islam.

Birth defected babies are not only in India. They are in the whole world.

In USA, they won't marry within relation.

Think: How they got the babies with birth defects, who are not married within relatives?

If your father and his brother are not blood related than she isn't

really your first cousin only by married relationships not by blood. Get a blood

test talk to your doctor and your pastor before moving forward with the relationship.
