American planning trip to Europe?

A few days ago I answered a question from an American who was planning a trip to Europe. I know this is a statement rather than a question, but I neglected to mention at the time, which I should have done, that there is a rail pass called Inter Rail which allows you to travel by train in 30 countries. The youth pass for 1 month costs around £400 (about $800), which sounds like a lot until you realise that if you use it regularly you are likely to clock up $800 worth of travel in less than a week, let alone a month. For those with a slimmer budget, there are cheaper passes for shorter periods and also for just one country.

Friend, I hope you're reading this. Bon Voyage.

As the person is an American, it is no use for him/her to know that InterRail exists, as InterRail is only for Europeans and residents who have been in Europe for 6 months at the time of travel.

Non Europeans will have to do with Eurail.

I do personally think that InterRail is the better deal, but depending on the time you want to travel and the countries Eurail can be good enough.

A good site for all rail passes in Europe is the rail passes page of seat 61:

i imagine the cities you planned after Venice aren't to any extent further that particular anymore - they are all eye-catching and awesome cities, yet no longer something compared to Vienna, Prague or Venice .then you quite have more beneficial time to spend in those cities themselves - they are all eye-catching cities. i don't recognize once you've already booked your flight yet in case you haven't i'd recommend flying decrease back from Venice (or an airport on the fringe of Venice). once you've booked your flight you may take a flight from Venice to Frankfurt. i don't recognize if you're planning to visit Budapest yet in case you do verify you stay there lengthy sufficient. with your time table i don't think of i'd visit Budapest. (its a shame you dont have more beneficial time) i'd not stay in Frankfurt only for the first nighttime (you may also evaluate flying on to Prague) i recommend staying about 3 finished days in Prague, Vienna, Croatia and Venice. And certain, also evaluate going by prepare. that is what i'd recommend for sure you may do more beneficial issues yet in case you do this you'll quite have time to work out each and every thing.
