are these insect eggs?

On my washing line are some lines of what looks like tiny eggs, they are yellowish and lined up around the cable itself which gives a kind of mini corn on the cob effect. What are they?

Your description is just about hopeless in identifying what these things are. A photograph might be of some help but the usual way to identify eggs is to wait until they hatch.

Your discription is vague, but there's the possibility it just could be something that had blown off a tree or plant of sort and stuck to your line...it could also be spider eggs. Check to see if there are any webs around the ends of your line. Most spiders tend to lay their eggs in sacks, but not all....a photo would have been an easier call though. you can either wait and see what happens, or simply just wipe them off I guess.

The way you describe them reminds me of moth or butterfly eggs, but why they should take a fancy to your washing line baffles me.

that's exactly what they are. without a picture, its hard to tell what particular insect they are. Check them daily and see what they hatch into. Isn't nature amazing?
