does the BIOS report any recognized hard drives?

Unless you are willing to pay to have a diagnostic done on it somewhere, you may have to invest some time in troubleshooting this yourself. I've had this happen before, more than once. In one situation I needed to reinstall my O/S, something got corrupted and it would not let me load in. One other scenario is I had a bad stick of RAM and it would not let me boot past BIOS even though all settings were on default and I didnt' detect any error messages.

Obviously trying to do a reinstall on O/S is easiest. Only way I knew I had a bad stick of RAM was getting a diagnostic test run at a PC store.
