Can StarOffice read Access Database files ?

Yes, but....
The files cannot be saved back for access, they get converted to to Star Office format when you open and get saved as SO. Also, the macro language of SO is different to MSO so there are problems converting if you used a lot of macros.
Summary - for simple databases where you do not need to be able to have them as access files it is OK. For complex databases, probably not worth it unless you plan to use SO all the time but you will have work to do.
