Would you recommend Pellets, for bird feed.?

I have always stated never feed your valuable birds on solely pellets it is surprising what goes into them and that proves my statement.

As for the person that mentions suet do they know where it comes from and it's uses,Suet comes from round the animals kidney and is also used for human consumption to make Puddings, etc.

If one were to check the ingredients of Pellets ,it states Protein and Protein comes from animal bye-products.which is mostly Offal.

Edit .As a breeder of Parrots and Parrot like, it is a well known fact that they will eat ,meat I have fed my breeding birds on Chicken for the extra Protein which they require , not often but they have eaten it with great gusto.I also fed to some Crickets and Locust all Protein.

I am quite sure that you did not watch a program that included every company that manufactures food for birds. Psittacine birds (parrots and cockateils) do not eat meat, they eat grains, vegetables, and fruits, so it doesn't make sense that 'dead animals' would be used to manufacture their pelleted foods. It has been scientifically and empirically proven over and over that psitaccine birds fed pelleted diets with supplemented green leafy vegetables and carrots or sweet potato daily are much more healthy than birds fed seed/nut diets, no matter what is used to supplement the seed/nut diet. I cannot talk about chicken diets, dont' know what they use, but lets face it, chickens eat slugs and bugs and dead things in the dirt when they are raised free, so using dead animals and waste products is about the same thing.

I know a lot of people believe that stuff but in reality i don't think its like that. After the outbreak of mad cow disease the government set up a lot of regulations on what goes in the animal feeds. Ive heard people say they put euthanized pets, sick livestock, road kill etc. into the feeds. The feeds may contain a lot of bad stuff but its not like they making it all out of sick and dead animals. I try to avoid feeding my hens too much commercial feeds (chicken pellets) because I can make most of it myself and it is fresher. However, I still do feed pellets (of legitimate brands) because these feeds are designed to fit ever nutritional need for the birds. You cant exactly create the feeds yourself and get them to be just as exact in every vitamin as the pellets you buy are. Their has been tons of scientific studies to get these feeds to be as healthy as possible, so just because they contain animals does not mean they are ALL entirely awful.

pellets for shure. i reccomend harrisons its the best food for birds you can get. seeds are difficint of over 30 vitamins and minerals! only certain pellets are bad.

What do you think suet is? Wake up and learn something.
