Can anyone give me a link to something official about British schools charging pupils on non-uniform days?

I know they're not allowed to charge a contribution and have no power of enforcing it, so please don't tell me that.

What I want is a link to something explaining the legal side of it.

Non uniform days are a way of raising money for a charity or for the school, and you are right the school cannot charge for education but they can charge for extras like school trips or for non standard equipment eg for an afterschool music or sports club.

Basically it is a fine paid for breaking a school rule. If you don't want to pay it just wear uniform
