Can anyone give me a link to something official about British schools charging pupils on non-uniform days?
I know they're not allowed to charge a contribution and have no power of enforcing it, so please don't tell me that.
What I want is a link to something explaining the legal side of it.

In British schools, such a charge is a voluntary contribution, usually as a charity fund-raiser.
You don't have to pay, you can just go to school in your normal uniform on that day.
