How do UK self publishers get round the required 'Contract' requirement for Amazon Kindle?

On Amazon Kindle it is required for UK Self publishers to get a ITIN number on a W7 form - part of the evidence for this is proof by the Publisher / Agent (In this case Amazon) that the ITIN is needed. How do I get this from Amazon - I have e-mailed them and have not heard back - Is there a standard form on the site or a way round it ?

Definitely double check what I write here just to be sure. Here in the States ITIN stands for "individual tax identification number." If people have to pay for the book you wrote then that is a source of income for you, therefore you must pay taxes to the government. Because you are self-published/self-employed you will need to do your own taxes. The ITIN number will be necessary to complete the tax forms. It is how they identify you and your book as a legitimate tax-paying business. In the States you just go to the proper government website (IRS), print the form and then send it in. I do not think that Amazon can assign you an ITIN number. Type "ITIN W7" into Google and you should see a pdf form that you can fill out. Again, double check everything I have said here. Good luck.

As a UK citizen it is the W8-BEN that you need to complete. see here:
