IPSec stands for Internet Protocol Security. It's a method of communication that allows two or more computers to transmit sensitive information between each other so that noone can eavesdrop on the transmission. It essentially encrypts the information so that only the senders and receivers can see it.

With other encryption methods like SSL (I.E. the HTTPS:// header on web pages you enter in credit card information) it requires the application you're using to have SSL encryption built into it. With IPSec you can use any application because the application's transmission is being encrypted by an IPSec filter as the application sends it out.

This explains it more thoroughly than I can...

Actually I am at a loss as to what an IPSec is. Is it possible that you were thinking of ISP? I do know what is meant by ISP.

An ISP is an Internet Service Provider. Each of us must have an ISP in order to access the internet.

I realize that this may not have resolved your dilemma but it was the only thing that I could think that may have answered your question.

    Good Luck!
