Is God becoming unfashionable?

The BBC quotes a study using census data from nine countries which shows that religion there is set for extinction. The countries are Australia, Austria, Canada, the Czech Republic, Finland, Ireland, the Netherlands, New Zealand and Switzerland. Surprised the UK isn't there, maybe it is extinct there already. What do god botherers make of this? Will heaven have NOBODY from these countries and will that affect the diversity of the celestial sphere? Is it really so UNCOOL in these countries to believe in a superior being, even a Flying Spaghetti Monster or Jedi?

Let Jesus answer your question. He said "The road that leads to life is narrow and few are on it. The road that leads to destruction is wide and those who enter it are many". Matthew 7v13

Of course it is; according to some people, the bible is old, out dated, no good, just like the American Constitution supposedly is (It's our law of the land, you nimrods who support that idea!). People will think, "Oh well I don't NEED a God, I can run off my own steam!" or "He's so vile and evil! What a foul thing!". And then there's "All religion does is encourage close mindedness! That's unacceptable in this day and age where everyone's a winner!" So yes, to most, it seems to be unfashionable.

Oh well, I never really did care about what I wore was in fashion, only if I liked how it works for me.

    (Yes, I am Christian)

@Smoke: "let's see, the book you base everything off of treats women as second class citizens, condones slavery, puts witches to death, tells homosexuals they're an abomination, stoning people, yes, it is becoming unfashionable as it should."

The bible does NOT treat women as second class; it does NOT encourage slavery, have you even READ Exodus?? Sure the Isrealites had slaves...but if you do some research you'd find that these were more like indentured servants who sold THEMSELVES into that state to pay off debts. The bible condones the taking and stealing of a man to make into a slave. And yes, witches were to be stoned back in the day of the ancient isrealites; these people were very distracted. I mean, God just saved them from the Egyptians, and there were already people worshiping a golden calf! All the laws about stoning were to prevent an evil influence from growing. Again, research. As for the homosexuality is an abomination, that comes from the old testament. In fact, everything you accuse is from the old testament, the laws of which Christians aren't held to for obeying anymore. Did you research, or just read?

I'm from the Netherlands and your story is true, it's really uncool to believe in a superior being, only elder people believe in it and maybe some others, but it's very rare.

God has been unfashionable for a long time. The Prince of the Earth does not like being challenged. Hundreds of thousands of Christians are martyred each year. It's a fact. Look it up.

Another fact is that the majority of people who call themselves Christians (though not necessarily the majority of those saved) are White. Which race is it again that consisted of maybe a billion people but is now slated for total genocide? This is why God is becoming unfashionable. Expect Him to become less fashionable as our political power disappears.

Yes. Absolutely. I am Europe and the churches are all almost empty and being sold as housing. Only old churches and cathederals are visited simply for their history and beauty.

When I tried to be a christian I was treated like a weirdo and lost a lot of friends. When I accepted it was all bs my friends came back. I was told I was strange when I was religious.

Christianity is definately going down the pan. The bad news is islam is trying hard to take over.

The UK Census question regarding 'religion' was optional. Maybe there's was the same; doesn't necessarily mean that God is, 'unfashionable'. Not that he is a fashion thing.

But whatever it is God don't need us, WE NEED him.

We NEED him to save us from the day he comes back again to judge us all according to what we had done.

    Not with me!

I'm so glad this will happen one day.

    Revelation 6

15 Then the kings of the earth, the princes, the generals, the rich, the mighty, and everyone else, both slave and free, hid in caves and among the rocks of the mountains. 16 They called to the mountains and the rocks, “Fall on us and hide us[f] from the face of him who sits on the throne and from the wrath of the Lamb! 17 For the great day of their[g] wrath has come, and who can withstand it?”

It's only a matter of time for religion to be ditched all over the world. I give it about another 200 years max. As an atheist, I of course believe in the FSM. Ramen.
