what do i need to put in a tattoo portfolio?
i'm only 15 but would like some experience in tattooing, and the closest thing i can do to that is creating designs, for anyone to take me on i need to create a portfolio of artwork for them to see,
i was wondering, can i copy an image straight onto paper?
do i have to create my own images from my head?
or can it be a my own image based around others?
do they have to be in colour?
thanks
Andy

Drawings, both line drawing and colour/shaded.
Your own designs.
Different ranges of styles, portrait, cartoon, tribal, pin-up - basically anything that could be tattooed that you can draw.
You can rework other ideas as an example of your creativity, just make sure the original image is included with credit. Also it helps to be able to draw quickly, if you were to become a tattooist and deal with walk-ins you need to be able to draw/design fast based on the information given to you.
You also need to bare in mind that depending on your location, you may not be able to work as an apprentice in a tattoo shop until you're 18. Since the tattoo section falls under medical laws regarding age, you can't legally even touch the items to put them in an autoclave for cleaning as you're not a legal adult.
