when a blue light source is placed at the center of a solid glass cube, a circular spot of light appears on a white screen in front of the cube. if the blue light source is replaced by a red light source the spot appears as a square.

Blue Light waves have a high frequency and hence do not spread much and therefore a circular spot is obtained on the screen.
Red Light waves have a lower frequency than blue light waves and hence spread out. The square is obtained as a result of this spreading of light.
