If you have
ax^2+bx+c
then to factor you have to have the divisors of a, say u,v
(ux+..)(vx+...)
Also c's divisors are w,z
we have
(ux± w or z)(vx±w or z)

Find the highest common factor (the largest number that fits in all the other numbers)

Place this number outside the brackets
4(
Put the original sum divided by the HCF inside the brackets
4(4x + 8)
et voila!
You can multiply it out again to check you've got it right ;)
