I have a darling little dog, he's 99percent cairn terrier. He's putting on weight and I have reduced his calor?
have cut down his calories. I give him Pedigree Chum mixer and PC meat. Is that a balanced diet ?. Should I be giving him more of what I eat myself which is fairly wholesome. He's 1 year old & I adore him

I don't know what either foods are, but Pedigree isn't the best dog food. I would try to get him on a higher quality diet, like Blue Buffalo, or Iams is better than Pedigree and cheaper than good brands like Wellness, Eukanuba, Taste of the Wild, etc.
Also, cut back on how much he eats each day. A cairn needs about half a cup in the morning and half a cup at night. Also do not give him any of your own food and if you do only give him small portions and nothing unhealthy; things like chicken and most veggies are good for dogs. Also, if your dog gets hungry since he is eating less you can add a can of green beans (un-salted ones) to his food as they have very low calories and make the dog feel more full.
For treats, no more milk bones for him! Give him carrots instead. (:
