Why do people think we are any better than woodlice?

They were here long before us and will certainly outlast us...

People think we are better than woodlice because wood lice don't have keyboards and monitors.

Yet, Life is one reality with many aspects.

Humans are just beginning to discover some of the aspects that were not known even a few years ago.

Yet, we always think that this new expansion of the zone of understanding is the final one.

In that sense, we are inferior to woodlice. They just live their lives without trying to summarize the un-summarizeable.

Humans are fortunate though. They can read about, and implement, gshp.

I think there is a lot we could learn from the woodlice if only we were intelligent enough to be able to understand their language. A species as old as woodlice must have evolved language. Actually I think they can understand ours, because someone told me if I wanted to get rid of them from my house I must ask them telephathically to leave, so I did, and they did. This is a crap answer and does not address your question, sorry, I just thought what better way to spend the last few minutes of Christamas Day than to spending it praising woodlice.

Each creature or animal places importance on it's own life.

I don't sit all day thinking "I'm better than this species, or that species" but I feel that my children are worth more than woodlice eggs and I am more important than a woodlouse because I am biologically programmed to do so.

Now, if you'd have asked which species is more interesting then of course, the woodlouse would win. The closest living relative to a lobster, able to survive on rotten plant and bark material, superb coiling defence mechanism. Amazing creatures.

Considering that even us Humans and Woodlice share a common ancestor I don't think we have done too badly, our environment has forced us to evolve faster than woodlice and in that respect they will outlast us in their form while humanity will continue to evolve.

Yes, it is true that woodlice are older and wiser than us, but as you may know we defeated them in WW2 when we took the internet from them. This enabled us to technologically advance far past them, so now we are able to harness the power of the internet for everything, including asking ridiculous questions on Yahoo! Answers.

Those without regard for civilisation are doomed to live as woodlice later

I can step on a wood louse; they're vile - so are most people though, but unfortunately it's not possible to stamp them all out

I'm superior to a wood louse, because I'm more powerful and power is the basis of human supremacy and the reason why our species is at the top - like it or not

Because we have significant amounts of intelligence compared to them, we build our world to what it is and they sit in the soil most of the year.

We're the greater species of our planet, the end of the food chain, we've evolved so much and learnt as years go by as all other species dont change much in intelligence or social well being.

Its about alpha males really, we are the alpha males of our world.

  • Doodle bugs are better tree and soil creepers even to the tiniest holes they can creep in. And roll up round in a tiny curl as "dango mushi" than a normal human being can do, so as to protect itself from whatever is threatening its life.

    Merry Christmas...!!

Hahahaha - yes. We're a life form which seems to take itself awfully seriously. But turns out that we're just vehicles for lice to ride around on.
