Can birds like a blue jay fly to arizona?

The range map here shows a small corner of NE Arizona that may occasionally have blue jays in winter but really, their range isn't that far west normally, even in winter. http://birdfotos.com/birdfoto/jay/blue/blue_1.htm

It is possible. So many birds vary from their usual ranges. What you may have seen could have been a Stellar's jay; they are very similar in body type and color, but the Stellar's jay has no white, and the head and chest are black. Still, it would not be surprising at all to hear some vagrant blue jay wound up there.

It's possible that a blue jay can fly all the way to Arizona. With the right help, anything is possible.

The southwest is home to Stellers Jay a large blue jay. We do not have any of the southern jays.
