cat throwing up dark bile?

My 5-year-old neutered, male indoor cat is throwing up dark brown bile. It's happened once or twice a day for the last week (I have 4 cats, so it took me a while to figure out who was sick). It's about a quarter size of bile at a time. I haven't changed his diet (he's on specially formulated food for urinary tract health) and he seems to be eating and drinking fine. However, he looks like he's lost a little weight. He's still happy and playful. I do have an appointment scheduled with the vet, but I'm curious as to what is going on with him. All my cats have been very healthy, and if there is a problem I can usually figure it out pretty quickly, but this time I'm baffled! What could be causing this?

You need to ask your vet.......but, to me......dark bile sounds like internal bleeding! It could also be that he's not drinking enough water and needs to increase his water intake. Maybe, you could get him one of those "fountains" that will induce him to drink more.

Don't put off that vet visit........

Hope it's not as serious as it sounds.........Good luck.

My question is, why didn't you make a vet appointment the second you saw him foaming at the mouth? I mean, I make an appointment the second I see one of my cats limping, and I can't even afford going to the vet, but I do anyways. Vets are always willing to have you make payments on your bill, even if it is just $25 payments. It could be part of her disorder or it may not be. My advice is please don't let your cat suffer and take her to the vet to find out what is wrong. If it is something serious and you let it continue, you may be spending MORE in vet bills than if you did take her now. Hope this helps and I wish the best for your kitty.

I agree, take him in right away. He may not seem sick since he's eating and drinking OK, but he is sick. If you wait too long it could be too late. I just lost a kitty who seemed fine right up until the day he died. They are good at hiding illness from us. Good luck.

Internal problems. Since you know who's sick, call the vet and get him in there NOW before he gets sicker!
