Preparing to send a mare to stud?

My mare is going to stud next month. She has all her swabs etc up to date. She's going with her headcollar (with her name on it) as well as a rug or two. She's unshod and will be trimmed just before she goes. Is there anything else I need to organise before taking her to the stud.

I have been talking to the stud about getting her ready, I have a tendacy to plan lots and am trying not to be constantly bugging the stud, hence asking here.

Update:

She's a very good doer and on a bit of a diet so not on any feed at all other than chaff.

Timing wise she's going onto regumate for 10 days prior to going to the stud, partly to ensure she comes into season just after getting to the stud but also to ensure she has a proper season as she's going quite early in the year - I want a nice early foal if possible (who knows with horses tho).

    Sound like you have everything.

I'm guessing she is going to stay while she is covered. We do walk in's so our come straight home.

If you haven't already I would have her scanned so you know she has started to ovulate. You can also send her near to when she is coming in, then cutting down on livery fees while she is at stud. If she goes just after she has ovulated she will have a 3week stay before she came in again.

Edit. We breed for Racing so we like them early! Up to now we are finding our mares that haven't just foaled aren't coming in. We have had them under lights since dec but not a lot happening.

I think she is completely ready - when my mare went to a stud, the stud just said take her shoes of and have all the swabs up to date. I did all you have done already, and no more. If you can think of any possibilities, I would ring up the stud just in case. Hope it works!

You probably have worming and vaccinations up to date already. Since you like to plan so carefully, what about swapping her over to their feed? That would be one more thing you could manage on your terms, and one less change for her.

Get her vaccinations up to date, make sure she is wormed and that all droppings from her are collected and discarded in a safe place.
