Did you know that today is an important day in NBA history?

It's the anniversary of Allen Iversons "practice" rant! Yep, on this day 10 years ago he went off in a post-season news conference after his Sixers lost in the first round of the playoffs to the Celtics.

Here's a full transcript of what he said.

It's absolutely brilliant. My favorite quote: "How in the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?"

Anyway, feel free to share your own memories of this historic event.

I didn't know that -- thanks for posting this! :-)

It's cool to answer one of your questions, because it's rare that I see you post a question.

Well, my memory of it is that ESPN blew it up into this big thing, the way they do with any little morsel they can get their mitts on. Fact is a lot of players don't practice much, but they don't normally admit that fact in public like Iverson did.

There's another good longtime user on this board who actually has Iverson's rant as his avatar photo!

Today is also the 8-year anniversary of when I bought my first computer! Friday, May 7th, 2004!

Anyway, pleasure to answer your question!

Actually I had never seen Iverson's rant before and when I watched it this morning it was hilarious lol. he wants to talk about the game that happened and he gets asked about practice.

and I agree my favorite line is at the end where he says "How in the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?" hahahahah awesomeness right there

Come on man, we're talking about practice here. Really? Going to ask a question about practice? Not a game. Not a game. We're talking about practice. Practice? Practice? Not the game, not the playoffs, not stuff that matters, but practice? Practice? Were talking about practice.

Lol, I had to. That's still my favorite press conference ever. Classic.

First off, it is truely an honor to answer this question, because I never see you ask any (in the basketball section anyway).

And yeah, that is also my fav line from the whole rant "How in the hell can I make my teammates better by practicing?" lol

Nah seriously though that's cool. I never knew when he gave out that practice rant, i always assumed some reporter just ticked him off.

Reggie Miller letting the Pacers come back against the Knicks at the Garden. They were trailing then but Reggie stole the inbounds pass and made a three which tied the game. That was a huge dagger for the Knicks and this is the reason why I still love watching it every time it appears on TV.

Isn't it also the day Michael Jordan hit that game-winner over Craig Ehlo? If I'm not mistaken, it happened 23 years ago.
