Where there 2 referendums on the Common Market in the 70's, 1 to go in, and 1 to stay in?

No there were not. Edward Heath took the UK into the Common Market using the EC Act 1972 (which could be repealed by Parliament, incidentally) and the referendum was held in 1976 on a 'stay in or get out' basis.
