In the start menu search box, just type:
folder options
under the view tab, remove tick from "hide extensions for known file types"
click OK

Go to the control panel, search for folder options, click the view tab, scroll down, untick "Hide Extensions for known file types"

Go to a folder (doesn't matter which one), then click on Organize>Folder and search options>View>untick the box next to "Hide extensions for known file types".
