What happened to genuine 'root beer' taste? What they call 'root beer', today, sure isn't it?

    Well here's my theory.....

    recession hit and root bear companies tried to find the easy way out in cutting down cost, so they cut down the chemical that provided its taste

    Try Dad's Root Beer or A&W. But I know what you mean by genuine. Also Find that ordering root beer floats at a soda fountain is really good. Today they added too much artificial flavor to it and preservatives.

    The best root beer i have found in britian today is being sold in aldershot american food shop or online as britian wouldnt know what good root beer was even if it bit them in the rear

    bundaberg was also good found that at waittrose bit pricy though

    the distinctive flavour comes from a herb called wintergreen. modern synthetic flavours (synthesised to taste simalar but without any or very little of the more expensive flavourings) definately dont cut it in a lot of things
