What is the insurance group for a ford fiesta 1.3l?

I'm trying to find out if we will be able to afford to insure my daughter on a W reg 1.3 fiesta when she turns 17 in December. We have bought a fixer-upper early to keep costs down but we can't find out how much we are likely to be quoted.

All help and suggestions will be useful. Thankyou.

Update:

Resource - I know that a Fiat 500 is 500cc and would/could be cheaper but we were offered a 1300 fiesta for £150 that was being scrapped because it needed a starter motor and a few other bits. so that's what we have bought and now have 3-4 months to find out if we can afford it or if we need to sell it on and keep car hunting.

The Fiat 500 is NOT 500cc, not unless it's 40 years old anyway, it's now at least 900cc, but insurance on ANYTHING (done legally) is going to be £3000 upwards, probably closer to £4000 or more so plan on that....if you can afford it!

Depends on the exact model, look it up on Parkers website. For a 17 year old it'll be ££thousands to insure ANYTHING, this gets asked on here a dozen times a day - do a site search.

The value of the car has nothing to do with it by the way.

    Also a Fiat 500 is no more a 500cc car than a BMW 116 is a 116cc one....

    1. If its your daughters car and she is the main driver then she will have to insure it in her name. If you become a fictious main driver then you become a criminal

    Details here from the BBC

    http://www.bbc.co.uk/news/10241769

    2. Cars over 10 years old are now costly to insure, more so than one from 5 to 10 years old so buying a banger can be false economy

    3. If she is average the insurance will be £3100 average. From Dec 19th 2012 it becomes illegal for insurers to give different rates to females so ending the cheaper insurance for females. It is even possible that the insurance could top £6000 plus if the circumstances dictate (your postcode, her job etc)

    4. Few teens can afford to run a car at all now

5 You can go on a site like the Compare the Market type and you can put in fictional details that would corespond to when she is 17 and passed a test - be ready for a shock when you get the quotes though.

the ford fiesta of its year are an insurance group 4E for most models and the flight model is a 6E. if its for a 17 year old girl the quotes should be around £1800 - £2500 (expensive i know) but not as bad as it is for me im a boy and have to pay between £4000 - £6000 to insure a car (depending on car, im restoring a vauxhall vectra). if your fiesta is either a 4E or a 6E you probably wont see any difference in quote but you can cut it down by putting yourself as a named driver on her car.
