Muhammad Ali influences boxing today. He promoted himself/boxing like no other athlete in the world. Not only was he handsome but millions of people watched him because of his loud mouthed and skill in the ring. He was a MASTER at self promoting. Boxing audience grew by millions because of mainly him in the 1970s and when he left people felt sad and sorrowful. That the "GREATEST OF ALL TIME" Left. Many people lost interest to boxing mainly because there will be no body as Funny, Charismatic, Enjoyable to watch again in boxing for a long time.

    AS ALI ONE SAID:

"YOU WONT SEE ANOTHER ME IN 200 YEARS!"

Ali had integrity. He fought the best in the world and did not shy away from anyone. The 3 or 4 who beat him he fought again within a few weeks and beat all of them.

After he retired boxers would avoid an opponent they thought could beat them and then the 5 belt 5 world titles were hyped into the media to create interest but true fans knew this was a farce.

You had and still have top boxers who wait one or even two years before they defend their titles just to keep the cash cow running.

Ali was simply the best ever.

as ali was leaving, leonard, duran and hagler were on the up, and duran was still around and winning. so the interest in boxing was still there.
