Rude waitress- should be fired?

I was at an asian restaraunt with my friends. When the bill came, we all split the check and we were going to leave a tip on the table for the waitress when we were about to leave. The waitress came back after we paid and said, "you didnt give a tip". She said it in a very rude way- can she be fired for this?

Update:

im 13, and it was the restaraunt is in town right near my school, and it was after school on a friday.

Update 2:

also, Im in a group of friends that arent a bunch of loud annoying teenagers we are mature and owners of other stores love having us visit because we are very interactive.

I don't think she can be fired, but I probably wouldn't leave her a tip out of spite after that. I understand wait staff get paid practically nothing and depend mostly on tips, but It's really rude to flat out just ask for it. I usually leave a tip at the table right before leaving too. Unless the service is really crappy and the person is miserably rude the whole time, then you leave a penny to send a message.

Rude servers can absolutely spoil your dinner. Example, you see other customers being waited on who came in after you did. When the server finally comes to take your order, they fail to apologize for your wait, or even worse they offer some lame excuse for the delay. Excuses are not acceptable. You place your beverage order and wait and wait and wait. Finally the beverage arrives and the server plops it down in front of you and races away from the table without ever making eye contact. Finally the server is ready to take your food order and she keeps looking around the restaurant while she is supposed to be giving you her undivided attention. She rushes off again, eventually returns with your food, which is not the way you ordered it. Your beverage is all gone and so is the server. You can see her walking back and forth fairly close to your table, but she again makes a point of never making eye contact. That way she will never have to acknowledge that you need anything. At some point the server races by your table, never having refilled your beverage, and drops off the check without ever saying a word. The bitter end of a bad dining experience. What kind of tip would you leave?

The decision on whether to fire her is up to the owner. No-one else.

The decision on whether to ban a bunch of cheap kids who came in, asked to split a tab and then appeared to be getting ready to stiff the waitress is, likewise, up to the owner.

No. Of course there is no excuse really for rudeness, but remember: waitresses work for peanuts. They barely make ends meet and they need every penny. We always tip waitresses very well. It's our way of giving back. Maybe she'd been on her feet for 8 or 9 hours and was really tired. Maybe you could have used that moment for "paying it forward".

She could be but that is up to her employer to decide and no one else! I have worked with co-workers who are rude to both customers and their fellow co-workers and somehow find a way to not get fired, even when customers are complaining about them!

I don't know... Were you planning to stiff her? Was her service that terrible during the meal?

Wait staff often get paid less than minimum wage because of those tips...

I'm hesitant to totally shut them down unless service is utterly atrocious.

No - you should have included the tip with the bill.

She probably thought your large group was going to stiff her.
