Problems with VW Passat?
My 1996 passat zeros the trip counter and clock with a squeak, frequently draining the (good) battery when starting. N.B. The noise seems to come from behind the dash. (It is not the clock and trip counter zeroing.) The car mostly runs all day if started with no problems at the beginning of the day.
I have tried replacing the glow plugs, replacing relay 180 and relay 109 and testing fuses for voltage drop.
Have you got any ideas what the problem might be?

If the instrument cluster is affected by cranking, it usually points to bad earthing in the car. Check all the negative wires going from the battery (there's one on the chassis and one on the transmission if I remember correctly). Check for corrosion and tighten properly.

Remember also that the engine is mounted in rubber, so there has to be an engine ground strap.
But it is not clear what the problem is?
It the concern the trip counter and clock, the squeak, or the drained battery?
Why did you replace glow plugs, relays, and check fuses?
What could they possibly have to do with trip counter, clock, squeak, or drained battery?
