How long does it take nowadays to get a new South African passport?

It's been a while since getting my current one and I know lots of things changed in the past 9 years in the "country of change".

I applied for mine in Berlin and it had to be sent to SA . . .  took a week shorter than 4 months . . . good to have a sign of life from you Vango

I made mine on Monday and it's expected to come within the next two weeks. Although it could take upto 3weeks according to home affairs.

I renewed mine 2 yrs back and was told a date 1 month later and true to their word it was actually ready on the date they gave me - so yes they seem to be better, but its Africa.... rather allow more time than less - best not to 'challenge' the system too much :-)

The last time I went to a travel agency (September), she  told me it takes a week and a half now! that's great. use to take much longer.
