Please Tell me if this is correct?

7y + 30 = 2y

Solve for y would get you y = -6

    7y + 30 = 2y

    subtract 2y from both sides

    7y - 2y + 30 = 2y - 2y

    5y + 30 = 0

    subtract 30 from both sides

    5y + 30 - 30 = 0 - 30

    5y = - 30

    divide both sides by 5

    5y/5 = -30/5

    y = -6 .................................. answer

    5y=-30

    y=-30/5

    y=-6

    7y - 2y = -30

    => 5y = -30

    i.e. y = -30/5 = -6.....correct!

    7(-6)=-42+30=2(-6)=12

    I say yes because -6x7=-42. And 2x-6=-12 so -42+30=-12
