The savic royal suit or the liberta explorer?

Hi in case you don't know the cages i'm referring to, here's the links:

http://www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Liberta_Explorer_Rat...

http://www.cagesworld.co.uk/p/Savic_Royal_Suite_95...

So i want to buy a bigger cage for my ratties. Here's the deal, i'd like to split the cage to make two single levels. One to keep girls and the other to keep boys. I'd like to know which is easier to split into two levels and your experiences with either cage. The savic royale suite is more expensive...is it worth the extra money?

Both of the cages have doors that open to the whole width of the cage which is one of the things i like best, and i think they have similar bar spacing. So why is one more expensive? O.o

Any help appreciated!

I had the Savic royal suite for my boys and my girls, and they LOVED it! Where as on the other hand the Liberta Explorer I have found to be more flimsy and has not go a place to put items such as food and toy which is a real downside. Savic, as a company, are also much helpful-er, as when we asked if I was possible to get an extra level (they are that good!) they gave it to us FREE! It was easy to separate the two half's ( by lifting up the ladder and hooking it to the top) but try putting an old towel their to protect there little feet! The Savic royal suite is by far the best built, as it is stronger and lasted me six year ( OK, so it was five and a bit) where as the Liberta explorer we had faults with i the first year and a half of using it. Over all if you think about it, the Savic would be cheaper in long term, as you have it for much longer, instead of having to keep on buying new ones.

If you like this design have a look at the critter nation, it's about half way in-between the two above (price wise) but if your using litter Neither the critter nation or Liberta explorer have guards, so would go every where, o your best bet is the Savic royal suite! :)

Also I notice you answered many of my rat questions, thanks! It weird doing it the other way round!

    Hope this helps :)

I actually own the savic cage. I have chinchillas in it, and the thing is just a beast, but super simple to split into 2 levels. The thing is the cage liner on the top has a hole cut into it, and you need to fill the hole with something or buy another full liner, which costs a small fortune. The nice thing is that the shelves inside it are also plastic, and you can cover them in fleece. It's also quite heavy and durable. I'll never need another cage for life, but if it's just for rats, then the less expensive one might do. I opted for the heavy duty one because of the size and weight of it. It's durable for a heavier animal that does a lot of bouncing around.

    swings and roundabouts.

I've heard that the SRS is a much better cage.

but I don't think it's £200 better, which is why I have the Explorer. which I love.

the Explorer does have mostly vertical bars, rather than mostly horizontal, but my boys, even the rather hefty, older boy, get around in it just fine

the SRS has deeper trays. but I don't use substrate, so again, not a problem.
