Will my car fail it's MOT?

A few years ago I had to change the interior (seats and door cards) in my ford fiesta. I could only buy a set of second-hand seats from a newer model which my husband fitted. Unfortunately he couldn't connect up the seatbelt retentioners because the plugs were different. Because of this the airbag warning light is constantly flashing in the dashboard.

Firstly, Will the warning light flashing mean that my car will fail the new MOT standards?

Secondly, If yes, does anyone have any idea how I can either de-activate the warning light OR fit the old plugs on to the new seats?

Yes as from today March 20th 2013 air bag now comes into the MOT test A seat belt load limiter or pretensioner obviously missing where fitted as original equipment [taken from MOT manual] so if standard fitment it must work Try and get a complete seat belt loome with the correct ends, their normally separate from the car loome

Yes in the UK that will now cause it to fail the MOT

Deactivating the light will not work unless the fault is corrected and even then it will require diagnostic equipment to be hooked up to the cars socket.

Even removing the bulb from the light will not work as it must light up with the ignition and then go off as normal

I think you may need a garage with a good electrician for this one if it was not a simple job of hooking up a few connectors.

WOW greart question! I do NOT lilve in your country, but I would guess tht thy check the SSEATBELT and AIR BAG conditions where you live! Stop by ANY testing area and ASK THEM ABOUT THIS! Youmay ahve to break down and get the OLDER TYPE seats that match up to the HARNESSES! As cars get NEWER< they involve MORE and MORE electronics and other expensive add ons. ASK At a few FORD JUNK YARDS for answers, but consider using the SAME year seats! TRADE what you have in SOEMWHERE! it is the EASIEST way to get this done, and you do NOT want your AIR BAG to explode on you by ACCIDENT like it did ME years ago! it is a TOTAL TRAUMA. You probaly HAVE to satisfy the MOT people to keep car going. BEST of LUCK to ya'!!
