Photoshop - Please help!?

I can't open my Photoshop files that another designer from my team has worked on on her MAC - I work on a PC (don't ask....). The thumbnails of these files look sort of transparent and every time I try to open one of them a window pops up and says "Could not complete your request because it's not a valid Photoshop file". It is a valid photoshop file, because she can open them on the MAC just fine but I can't open any of the files created or opened with her computer. Please help, how do I open them????

Tell her to give you the PSD, and to make sure she saves the PSD with the file extension .psd

PSDs work on Mac or Windows with Photoshop. She has likely sent you something else - Mac users are always a bit dumb when it comes to sending files to other people. A corrupt file is also another possibility.

If she has a more modern version of Photoshop than the version you are running, the PSDs may not open properly - but if both versions are the same, they should work on either operating system. You might need to ask her to resave the PSD for maximum compatibility with older versions of Photoshop - there is an option for that in the save dialog.

if she has a newer version of PS than you that could be the problem. She might have to enable "Maximize PSD and PSB File Compatibility" when she saves ... it's under "preferences > file handling" under "file compatibility".

If they zipped/compressed the file (which most designers have to do in order to send it electronically), make sure you're 1) not trying to open the compressed file/folder with Photoshop, and/or 2. try unzipping/decompressing the file before trying to open any files in there.

Whether it's made with and/or opened with PC or MAC shouldn't make a difference.

It could also be that the file just got corrupt while being sent and/or compressed. It happens.

If you copied that file, make sure you have copied it properly.

    OR

Maybe thats because of different versions of photoshop.

Are they in native .psd format? If so, have her resave them as .tif files (which can preserve layers) and try again.
