Windows 7 startup problem - how can I rescue my files ?

Acer 8936 laptop with Windows7 upgrade from Vista = won't boot into Windows after Bios screens = says "Cannot find file CRYPT32.dll". Can I use Upgrade W7 disc to recover without losing my unbacked up files ?

Update:

Yes I can press F8 in this machine but since I can't get access to Windows, how do I back up my files first ?

Yes, you can. Start your system, boot with DVD (if you don't know how to boot with DVD, please ask me via email), and after it loads the installation files, there is an option labeled "repair your computer" or something like that. Hit it and it will copy the files again and will cover the empty places.

Pressing one of the F keys at startup usually gives you the 'repair' Windows option.

However this varies, REPEAT varies between manufacturers,

You'll need to read the rigs manual for EXACT instructions here.

As a precaution, back up any personal or important files - just in case!!

If the installation or if the setup has finished copying and replacing system files over vista, yes you can. Just insert the disk, run the repair wizard.
