More detail. Lets say I have a girl and the potential 1 night stand is my female bff which is a 10 on any scale. Would it be appropriate then. Not to mention I might want to start messing around with her?

No because then she'll think it's serious when it's not, you'd be leading her on and she might grow an attachment to you. Remember if its a one night stand, you don't actually wanna get to know her.

you obviously dont want just a one night stand with this girl if youre doing that.
goodluck though, maybe you should reevaluate what this girl really means to you because there might be strings attached after the deed is did.
