Anyone know any good Academic books on the Legend of Robin Hood?

I'm looking for a degree level examination of the evidence surrounding the incidences of people calling themselves "Robin Hood" in Scarborough, Lincoln and Nottingham magistrates courts (among others) over a period of a couple of centuries. It is particularly these court entries I'm interested in as they seem to pre-date the ballads and other associated tales.

    You'll need to do research in the Public Record Office, I would imagine, as well as contacting the local archivist in each county and finding out whether they hold medieval court records among the archives. You'd better brush up your medieval Latin...
