gui for external hard drive ?

Hi guys

Is there any way you can create a gui(graphic user interface ) for a external hard drive,so for example when I plug the drive into my tv there will be a interface were I can choose between video,s,images or music ...

ive looked online for a program or interface that can do this but to no avail, however I may be looking or describing it wrong

there are Linux based media centers (eg xmbc ) however these are live cd,s and require a pc or laptop to boot from .. however I want to be able to use it with my 42" tv ....

I imagine it would have to be some kind of "autorun" file ... but remember it needs to work on my tv

any help will be very much appreciated

cheers guys !

No. A standard TV won't have the processing capacity to do anything like what you're outlining. The closest would be a so-called "smart" TV, and even they are mostly closed systems that can't be customized the way you outline. You could obviously run the drive through one of the small USB - HDMI computers or something, but it's still not possible to do what you're outlining without additional hardware.

Hey Brian, sorry to spam on your question, but I tried emailing you and it didn't work- here's the email I was trying to send:

The Sapphire GPU sounds great, and it's the right price. The only problem I have is that according to Newegg.com (I wanted to check the price in $) the Sapphire requires a Pci-e 2.1 x16, and I have a 2.0 x16 on my motherboard. I was wondering what processors you could recommend around the same price and power that would work in Pci-e 2.0 x16, or f the Sapphire would work. Thank you.

    Best regards,

    Dhilan
