Why can't I connect my new tablet to WiFi?

When you're internet/router was installed, you'd have been given a Wifi password for that router.

You'll usually find it either on the back of the Router/modem itself depending on the model and company, or the engineer would have given you the password on a card.

Easiest thing to do, is call you're provider and ask them for the password, they'll either remote assist into you're router or tell you the one associated to you're hardware.

If it's your home internet, either the router box will have the network name & password on the underside or it will have been provided with the documentation that came with it.

You can usually set or change the password using another computer connected to the same router, by connecting to it's IP address (the gateway address shown in Windows 'ipconfig' command).

If it's a public WiFi hotspot, they generally don't need a password for the initial connection but take you to a web login page when you try to use a web browser.

For Hotspots in hotels, you usually get the password from reception or it's in the leaflets in the rooms.

Disconnect the internet if you're using it, by clicking on the Connection icon and selecting "Disconnect" and then "OK".

In the Connection icon menu, click on "Connectivity Settings".

Click on "Connections".

Click on the name of your home wi-fi network, and then click on "Edit".

A setup box will appear. Click on "Next".

Click on "Next" again.

Enter the Pre-Shared Key, then click on "Next".

Click on "Finish".

WPS routers feature the WPS icon. If you see that icon on the router — and, yes, you need to see and access the router to use WPS access — obey these steps to connect to the Wi-Fi network:

Touch the Apps icon on the Home screen.

Open the Settings app.

Choose Wi-Fi.

The Wi-Fi settings screen appears.

Touch the WPS icon on the screen.

After being prompted by the tablet, touch the WPS button (it sports the WPS icon) on the wireless router to connect the devices.

why wont my android tablet connect to the wifi and i have had it for over a year and has never had this problem before??? i have reset the tablet and turn the wifi of an on anyone know why this is happening and how to fix it?????? please let me know :) xxxx sam

Could always try on your computer 192.168.1.1 when the page opens type in "admin & admin". This will give you access to your router/modem where if you carefully trawl through it (not altering anything) you should see your password listed

Ask your Wi-Fi provider what the password is.
