A new problem with the computer.?

Just recently my computer cut out, dead, in the middle of booting up. I assumed it was the fuse so I changed that and all went well - until the following day, when it again apparently blew a fuse. This time, purely out of curiosity, I put the same fuse back in, and it worked perfectly well - for a few days, then it died again. It has done it several times, and always works fine when I switch off, take out and return the fuse and switch on. The problem always occurs at the point where a whole pile of white lettering on a black background appears (normally for an instant) but today it died eight times in the process of booting up. I would be very grateful if anybody can suggest a likely cause. Thanks in advance to anybody who answers.

Are you talking about the power supply fuse??

Many times you need to flush, for lack of better word, the power.

Its a strange thing, done mostly on laptop batteries, but might work.

Unplug everything from the back of the PC. Press and hold the power button for thirty to thirty-five seconds. Then plug in the power cord and press the power button. If it works turn it off (press for five seconds) then plug everything back in.

    ?? Good Luck.

Hi John, I'm sorry but I seem to be a bit confused when you mentioned "fuse". Are you referring to RAM cards by any chance or fuses within the PSU?

I don't think the motherboards have fuses, but capacitors to limit the flow of electricity on the P.C.B boards.

if it really is the fuse in the plug then you are probably looking at a problem on the power supply side, so check the cable is firmly pushed in the computer, if possible replace with a good one. If you still get the problem then you may have a faulty PSU. (power supply) this will probably mean a workshop job unless you are used to this sort of thing

What fuse are you referring to? Is this a desktop PC or laptop? Could be your power supply gone bad, maybe your power cord
