woke up and my ear feels popped and having bouts of sever dizziness?

yesterday morning i woke up and my ear felt popped.... tried blowing my nose and such but it stayed popped. this morning i woke up and i was still popped, but i felt a bit dizzy walking around the house. so i took my children off to school and while sitting waiting for my second child to go into the class room i kept having these awful bouts of dizziness, i was sitting still and suddenly it felt like the room was spinning! i could feel myself flopping to one side and i really thought i was going to fall off the chair! i manage to walk home and still feel a bit dizzy and sickly so i have called the clinic and im there in 45minz. but im scared! my partner is at work and i have a 7month old baby and im scared ill fall over while carrying him. whats happened to me?

Update:

You have a cold and it's affecting your ear. That's where your balance organs are and it's why you're getting dizzy spells. The nausea is because your brain is confused from the mixed messages you're getting from your ears and eyes. It's nothing serious, but it makes you feel very ill because of the loss of control. The clinic will probably give you some cinnarizine (Stugeron) tablets which is usually used for travel sickness. It stops the dizziness and nausea very quickly.

Once your cold clears up and the plumbing around your ears becomes unblocked, the problem will go away.

Ohh that sounds like an inner ear problem to me. It could be caused by infection or a cold, but it is something that you should get checked out if it persists. If you start experiencing any pain you should go to the doctor as soon as you possibly can. Ear infections can get very nasty very quickly. You may receive anti-biotics, or the doctor may encourage you to sit it out, but it's better than waiting to find out that you should have done something about it sooner. If it's just some fluid build-up because of a cold or something else that I didn't think of then at least you'll know (there have been some very strange colds floating around for the last couple of years). That will go away on it's own.
