is my chihuahua in heat yet? she seams very willing but bleeding is still red?

my chihuahua is almost 3 and this is her 4th cycle.. shes been bleeding for 8days and the bleeding is still red but there is no where near as much of it.. and at first the dog from next door who jumped the fence (who is now unable to make pups) was licking and trying it on but she was turning him down. since yesterday shes been going up to him and putting her rear in his face and when he licks it shes waiting around for more but hes not doing anything.... so im not sure if she would accept it for not but shes waiting around unlike a few days ago.... could she be at her fertile now even though shes still got red blood?

Your vet can do progesterone testing. Unless both your dog and the potential sire have had proper OFA certifications done then you have no business breeding her.

As Lorraine already stated, the answer is yes. She wouldn't be willing unless she IS in *standing season/heat.* You better be VERY careful with her for the next week or so. That dog next door might be castrated, but there also might be other dogs in your area that aren't, and TBH, it's even possible for dogs to breed and tie through a chain link fence.

I HOPE you're not asking this question because you do plan on breeding her. I hope you're asking this to prevent pregnancy. If you have her spayed, you'll never have to ask a question such as this one ever again.

If you are know about breeding as it sounds you do Not know anything about breeding. You really should have your dog spayed. Don't bring more unwanted pups into the world! Go to a shelter and see how many unwanted dogs there are. It'll make you sad and hopefully open your eyes! SPAY HER NOW!

No and call your vet to spay her. I'm sure she is not top quality and has genetic testing and leaving her out to breed to any dog that comes around is a good way to have her die giving birth.

Why are you allowing this to happen.

More worthless poorly bred dog are going to come of this.

Get her into a vet now and get her spayed and stop being a typical BYBer.

The answer is YES, but that doesn't mean you should be breeding her.

I do hope you know what you are doing and have plenty of money lying around for an emergency c-section if she needs it, and also be prepared to lose her in the process.

why not spay her? It's better for the dog, better for you. And better for all neighbors who have male dogs.

You obviously shouldn't breed her if you have to ask questions like this.

Spay her problem solved. She should have been spayed at six months.
